Title :絵はがきプロジェクト: When Where What

 

これはこの緑島人権国際芸術季国際芸術家創作営に参加しているアーティストと私とのメールアートコラボレーションと呼んでもいいかもしれない。デジタルカメラで各アーティストを勝手に撮影して１人ずつ専用の絵はがきを作る。写真は本人以外にはだれが写っているのかわからないくらいにピントが外れている。写真にはいくつかのテキストを貼り付けてある。タイトルである"When Where What"、その写真を撮影した"日時"、写真の中でアーティストが立っている場所の"緯度経度"である。"When -日時"と" Where - 緯度経度"はクリアに提示できる。"What - そこで何が起きたのか"は主観に拠る。その何かを表す写真だけがピントが外れてぼんやりしている。
該当するアーティストが写った絵はがきを２枚プリントアウトしてアーティストに渡す。その時に一枚目の絵はがきには当該アーティスト自身の住所、もう一枚の絵はがきには友人の住所と署名を書いてくれるように依頼する。後日私が回収、切手を貼って緑島の郵便局から発送する。アーティストの友人は何のためにぼやけた絵はがきが送られてきたのかわからないはずだ。そしてアーティストに何のことか尋ねることになる。そのアーティストは緑島で体験したことを話すだろう。

*緑島とは台湾の南東に浮かぶ小さな島。日本軍時代は日本軍の刑務所があり、その後は白色テロによって政治犯とされた人たちを収容した過酷な刑務所があった場所として有名。現在でも一般刑務所がある。

Title : Postcard Project : When Where What

 

This is a collaboration art work between artists who participated in the workshop and me. I took those artists' photos by digital camera, and made postcards. On the postcard, I put "time and date" and "latitude and longitude of the location" on the image. Time, date and location are clear. But the image is blurred - out of focus. Only identical person may recognize who he or she is.
I handed 2 same post cards to the artist. And I asked the artist to write the artists' home address in a card, and friends' address in another card. I sent them from Green island by a post. The artists' friend will ask the artist what it is. The artist will talk history of Green island through their experience. The outcome remains unclear. Each artist will figure out a way.
