2001年1月1日～1月13日Installation exhibition at alternative art space 改善/Kaizan(東京)
Title :矢印の庭

今回のタイトルは「矢印の庭」ですが、庭は存在しません。私が実際に作ったのは庭ではなくて、畳をひいた和室です。「矢印の庭」はその和室の外側にあるという設定で、鑑賞者はその庭を見ることはできません。半透明の障子を通して部屋の外側の存在を感じるだけです。部屋の壁は入り口の木製の戸を除いて、すべて障子です。部屋の外側には障子に沿って７台のテレビが部屋の中を向いて置いてあります。テレビが７台あるのは東京には基本的に無料で見ることができるテレビチャンネルが７つあるからです。部屋の中からはテレビの画面が障子を通してぼんやりと見ることができます。部屋の中は障子を通過してきたテレビの光りに照らされています。テレビの音は大きくセッティングされていて、７つのチャンネル
の音が混じりあって雑踏の音のようです。部屋の真ん中には丸い茶伏台がおいてあります。茶伏台の上には液晶のテレビがおいてあり、パソコンの画面を表示しています。デスクトップの背景には「優柔不断な矢印」がちりばめられています。モニタの真ん中にはREAL PLAYERのソフトが起動しています。REAL PLAYERには液晶モニタの下に置いてある小さなカメラが写している鑑賞者の姿と作者が任意に選んだテレビチャンネルの番組がミックスされて映っています。
この画面は実際の時間より10秒程度遅れて表示されているので奇妙な違和感があります。

Title : arrow garden

The walls and a ceiling are all made by Japanese paper except a wooden sliding entrance door. 7 TVs surround a room from outside, and they face to inside of the room. Visitors in the room can see dimly TV images through the Japanese paper. The inside of a room is illuminated by the light of the TV through the Japanese paper. 7 TVs make loud sound in full volume. A round low dining table is at center of the room. There is a LCD monitor on the round table. RealPlayer application is booted on the LCD monitor. There is a video camera near the monitor, and it is shooting the image of the visitors. RealPlayer shows an image mixed with visitors and the TV program. This image is delay about 10 seconds from real time, because computer which makes a "real file" needs around 10 seconds to make it. The monitor shows visitors image like a mirror, but the image is delayed, and visitors can not control their image on the monitor.
